USBC Change in Adult High Scores

USBC just announce that a change in the Adult High Scores is coming into effect by August 1, 2014. United States Bowling Congress adult members for a 300 game, 800 series or 900 series will become once-in-a-lifetime awards. With this being said, even if this is not about the money, it will save USBC a lot of money. Andrew Cain stated, "Given that more than 50,000 certified perfect games are rolled in a typical season, the board agrees it is unnecessary for the national governing body to provide awards for near perfection with the 11-in-a-row," Which I totally agree with this move. Equipment now a days is so good that putting up an honor score on the toughest pattern out there can still be done. Don't get me all wrong here, shooting an honor score does take skill along with a little luck. If you have done it once, but it is that first one that you will always remember. Talking with people that have multiple honor scores still get the nervous feeling while shooting one but could care less about the rings. I am the same way personally. Each time I do shoot an honor score, I simply Donate to the Hall of Fame. Andrew Cain said, "I want to clearly emphasize that cost savings was only a small factor in the board's decision-making process approving the change. This is primarily about a philosophical shift to make USBC membership about supporting and protecting the sport." We shall see what the bowling world will state in a couple of days on how they truly feel about this change. In my opinion, I am glad they are still even handing awards out. They could just ban away with any awards if they wanted to. You may simply read the article by USBC by clicking on the following link - https://bowl.com/News/NewsDetails.aspx?id=17179869374
