very good tape
i bow three game in legume an it does roll off like vise the big roll it always roll off doing the first game so try the sample pack I like the orange an the purple there work the best for me

Great starter to feel em out.
I used these since my thumb was sticking in the hole. These helped to get my thumb out quickly and smoothly. I ended up liking the blue the best. Red was super slick, like felt paper. These aren't super thick so they don't make much of a thickness difference. You can reuse if you save the backing it comes on. No more than twice a strip.

Very dependable
I generally don't use tape except in the summer, because of swelling during play. This product was very dependable and did not start peeling up like most tape.

Pre-cut pieces like this can actually do both. It just depends on which you prefer. Some of the rolls of tape that are not pre-cut pieces will often only go on the thumb or hand but pre-cut pieces will go either way.

Answer:
The different textures of the tape can give you different releases. Some tape will be very smooth or slick and this allows your thumb to come out very easily with no resistance. Other tape may have more texture or grip and allow you to hold into the ball a little longer. It really depends on personal preference but the sample pack is a good option to let you try a few different textures to see which you like the most. Then you can order more of the exact tape that you like the most.
