I understand that these can be interchangable for left and right hand. How does that work, when each shoe is different. Wouldn't the slider and rubber sole not fit correctly

Hi Pam! This shoe is unique because the pads on both shoes are removable and the pads will fit either foot. So the traction sole can go on the left or right shoe and the slide sole can go on the left or right shoe so this shoe can be right handed or left handed just by switching the pads.
