2012 World Series of Bowling

Let the Countdown Begin

It's time to start counting down to the PBA World Series of Bowling.  The PBA World Series of Bowling gives members of the PBA an opportunity to compete at bowling's highest level.  The format is a little bit different this year than it's been in years past, so you'll want to stay up to date by frequently checking pba.com.  On the PBA website you'll be able to see the changes and new developments that take place in the days and weeks leading up to the event.

The 2012 World Series of Bowling is November 2-11 and for the third year in a row will be hosted by the South Point Hotel, Casino and Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.  South Point Hotel, Casino and Bowling Center is always great for the event being a self-contained community with restaraunts, movie theaters and of course the lanes.   South Point Hotel is taking good care of PBA members this year giving great room rates of $48 per night and $88 per night on the weekend.  The detailed schedule can be found here.

Five Titles, One Major

This year the PBA will be awarding five different Tour Titles; Cheetah Open Championship, Viper Open Championship, Chameleon Open Championship, Scorpion Open Championship and PBA World Championship.  Don't forget that the PBA World Championship will be the year's first major tournament.  The Open tournaments will be done the same way they were done last year.  Competitors will bowl an eight-game qualifying round of which the top 16 bowlers will advance to a six game round.  Then they will cut from 16 to 4, finishing in a stepladder.  Something of special note is the fact that each Open tournament will be televised on ESPN.

The best 24 from the Open Tournaments will then qualify for the PBA World Championship.  The PBA World Championship is round robin match play followed by the top five scorers advancing to the ESPN finals where the winner will take home over $600,000.

The best part of it all is if you're a PBA Full or Internation member you can compete.  If you're not a PBA member at the moment and want to bowl head here and join us in Las Vegas for the World Series of Bowling.
