Hammer Black Widow Legend
Hammer is calling it what it is... a legend. The Black Widow Legend takes the proven history of the Black Widow line and turns it up a notch. This is the first ball in this line to use a hybrid coverstock. This ball is aggressive with it's polished cover and then combine it with popular Gas Mask core to provide awesome movement on the backend that carries through the pins. This bowling ball is Carbon Fiber Infused! Carbon fiber is one of the toughest materials on earth. Hammer decided to add this material to the inner core of this ball for added strength and durability allowing them to offer an incredible 3 year warranty.

Great ball, nice motion
I’ve really been enjoying this ball. I’d recommend it to anyone with lower revs who wants a little more hook on the backend. I’m a stroker with lower revs who typically plays second or third arrow when conditions allow and this ball comes back at the end. Also, it’s a great looking ball. And, I ordered it on a Monday and got it Wednesday morning! Took it I. The following day, got it drilled, got a lane, and my first roll struck. Groovy.

Really nice ball
The increase in hook and pin action was very noticeable. Went out and bowled my first 600 series ever first time I used this ball. I am extremely happy with it so far.

Nice arc and very smooth, but still has a nice backend punch
Cons:
None that I see

Very Happy
I like this as a compliment to my Widow 2.0 hybrid. When the Hybrid is too aggressive I'll move to the Legend and it never disappoints. Both are awesome bowling balls.

Exactly What I Was Hoping For
Great solid ball that moves nicely down the lane. Not as sharp on the backend like the widow 2.0 hybrid I have. That's what I was looking for. Nice arc.

Review from an amateur
The good - I am an amateur who bowls in an unsanctioned league and for fun 1-2 times a week. When I asked my local pro shop about this ball I was told it was too much ball for an amateur, but if I could get it for a good price it would be worth it. His price was over $100 more than what I ordered it from here. It has COMPLETELY changed the game for me. It has a reaction (not sure if thats the right term but I mean the hook at the end) that blows a house ball away. I am very happy with this as my first ball and would absolutely reccommend it.

Insanely Forgiving
Wow my game has improved a TON since getting this ball. For a little context I usually shot from a 14 board. Had to move to a 9 board for this ball. This is my first new ball that was drilled for me. I have been working with hand-me-down balls before this. I had about 165-170 average before using this ball and now average between 180-190+ on most series. Furthermore I hit a 289 in league when my previous best was a 236. Highly recommend!!

Handles well, hooks just enough, looks great

Love this ball
This is my first custom ball, and I love it. I threw an average of 160 for my first 5 games with it, with one game of 220. Worlds better than anything I've thrown before.

Hey Bill just so you know a NO TAP 300 isn't anything to brag about smh it looks like you're bowling with a bunch of children the bowler after you has an average speed of 6
By Cj from PA
Pros:
It’s a strong hitters
Cons:
Lots of revs = uncontrolled reaction
Best Uses:
Heavy or long oil patterns
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
It’s strong and fun to use but…..
I’ve had this ball as my first non plastic ball and it’s been fun. My only complaint is that since I have a high rev rate it hooks too much on patterns that are under 40 feet and even on 40 Feet plus patterns I still need to stand far right (I’m a lefty) so I can force the ball down farther so it doesn’t cross over. I might have a bad pin layout so maybe I'm the problem but I still love the ball and the brand.
Customer Questions & Answers | Reviews
Question:
Is there a difference between the Black Widow Lengend and The Black Widow 2.0?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Yes, they have the same weight block but they have a different coverstock and finish out of the box so the Legend reads the lanes later with a sharper backend while the 2.0 reads earlier with a smoother arcing hook.

Question:
Will this ball be a good high performance ball for a begginer bowler? What other high performance balls should I look into purchasing?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
If you are a beginner bowler then you may prefer to start with something that is under the entry performance category or may be a mid performance ball that is more suited for medium to lighter oil conditions. This is typically what people start with and then you can get a more aggressive option later on if you find that you need something stronger at certain times of the night. If you are in a league you may need something stronger like this Widow Legend at the beginning of the night but you would still need a good medium to light oil ball later in the evening no matter how advanced you get.

Question:
Do you lose any reaction with this Ball if you get it af 14Pounds

Question:
Can I request a longer pin like 3 to 4 inches?
Have an answer to this question?
Question:
Does pin length effect ball reaction and if so how?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The pin length can effect the drilling options you have and the drilling options can effect the ball reaction. You may want to talk to your driller about how you like to throw so he can recommend what pin to request that would give you the best drilling layout to match.

Question:
Can you polish this ball
Have an answer to this question?
Question:
Can you get holes drilled in this and then shipped to you or do you have to have the holes drilled after you get it
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
We may offer a drilling option but you would need to have the measurements for us to do this drilling. If you do not want us to do the drilling or if you would prefer to have it drilled locally you may decline our drilling and the ball would come without holes.

Question:
What weight do you recommend for seniors
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
We would recommend you use the weight that you feel most comfortable with. There is not really a specific weight because it can be different from one person to the next so you may want to try a few weights and see what is comfortable.

Question:
Beside the Legend hammer what other balls have a massive backend
Have an answer to this question?
Question:
Is this a good ball for a straight ball bowler
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball was designed to have a higher hook potential for medium to heavy oil conditions so if you want a ball that goes straight this would not be a very good option. You may look in the "Spare" ball category because those are the best straight bowling balls.

Question:
Is this bowling ball like the black widow bite bowling ball
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Both bowling balls had the Gas Mask weight block but the Bite would read a little earlier on the lane and a little smoother while the Legend gives a little more length and a little sharper backend.
